The new level crossing controller can run in both stand-alone or computer controlled mode. In stand-alone mode, the controller is managing the level crossing by itself, it does not need to be connected to a computer. When it detects a train entering the crossing, it will switch the lights on and close the barriers. When the other sensor sees the train leaving the crossing, the controller will open the barriers and switch off the lights. You can see the system in action in the video below.
