Q & A
Can I print the tracks on my home 3D printer and in my layout?
Yes, you can. You can print as many as you need.
Can our LUG, or a member of our LUG, buy a 3D printer and print tracks for LUG members?
Yes, as long as those tracks are used in LUG or personal layouts. The LUG / LUG members cannot sell the tracks unless they have our written permission, see commercial use.
Can our LUG, or a member of our LUG, be compensated for the printing costs?
Yes, as long as the compensation is to cover the production costs (cost of the printer, material, electricity, etc.) Selling the tracks with profit is commercial use and requires our permission
Can I print tracks for a friend?
Yes. The same rules as those for LUG/LUG members explained above apply.
Can I print tracks and sell them with profit?
If you ask us first and get our written permission, you can. In fact, we encourage 3D print fans to start printing and selling our tracks to the AFOL community.
Are there any licensing costs involved to print the tracks?
No, we provide the models free of charge. If you’re grateful that we provide them or you want to support this project you can give us a donation.
If I sell prints of these tracks, do I need to pay a commission?
Yes, there is a 3% commission on all sales.
For this you get a 4DBrix™ membership so you have access to all models
and you get a marketplace store on our website so sell your products.
There are no other fees.
Why do I need permission to sell the tracks?
Because we want to prevent abuse:
Can I remove the 4DBrix brand name from the model?
If you sell the tracks, you cannot remove the 4DBrix brand name. If you print the tracks for
personal use, you can, but we would appreciate if you don’t.
Can I email the model to a friend?
No, you cannot, but you can send the download link to your friend.
This project is partially funded by the web traffic generated with the website.
Distributing our models reduces the traffic to our web site and undermines
the viability of this project.
So if you want to share our models, please provide a link to the corresponding download page on or website.
